WE TALK OF CHRIST

MeditationsInLight.blogspot.com by Larry Doyle Crenshaw

In this week’s meditative verse “We Talk of Christ.” In doing so, I reaffirm my testimony of His divinity:

CHRIST IS MY ADVOCATE
John tells us “If any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father,” who is, “Jesus Christ the righteous.” (1 John 2:1)

CHRIST IS MY RECONCILER
18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;  19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. (2 Corinthians 5:18-19)

CHRIST IS MY SAVIOR
10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.  … 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.  (Acts 4: 10-12)

CHRIST IS MY RIGHTEOUS JUDGE.
The Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgement unto the Son, that all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father…. as I hear, I judge; and my judgement is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.” (John 5:22-23, 30)

CHRIST IS THE MESSENGER OF MY TEMPLE COVENANTS.
“...and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to this temple, even the messenger of the covenant...” (Malachi 3:1)

CHRIST IS THE GOD OF MY FATHERS.
“For this intent have we written these things, that they (the children) may know that we knew of Christ, and we had a hope of his glory many hundred years before his coming; and not only we ourselves had a hope of his glory, but also all the holy prophets which were before us.  Behold, they believed in Christ and worshiped the Father in his name...” (Jacob 4:4)

CHRIST, IN A SAVING, SPIRITUAL SENSE IS MY FATHER.
Under the direction of the Father -Elohim, Christ is the Creator of this earth, and of worlds without number.  He is “the Father of the heavens and of the earth, and all things that in them are. (Ether 4:7)  He is the Father of all those who believe and obey His law. (Mosiah 5:7-8)  You and I have the right to “become [his] sons and daughters.”    Thus we become “the children of Christ, his sons and daughters”... “spiritually begotten” by Him as we “take upon us His name.” (Doctrine & Covenants 39:4)

We Talk of Christ
And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.
Book of Mormon  2 Nephi 25:26-27

We talk of Christ and know
He is the remitter of sins
And if to His alter we go
Freedom from sin begins

Freed from sin’s tribulations
Freed from sin’s blinding
Freed from sin’s privations
Freed from sin’s binding

In Christ Jesus, Our Lord
Is Moses’ Law fulfilled
Where grace is our reward
And love of God instilled

Of Christ we prophesy and preach
According to prophecies we write
Of salvation within our reach
As we strive with all our might

Teaching our children to know
To what source they may turn
When they, their sins forego
And the Spirit begins to burn

In Christ Jesus we rejoice
We praise His holy name
And with pen and voice
His Atonement we exclaim

Saved, anointed and esteemed
When Christ’s Atonement is applied
Sanctified, purchased and redeemed
By Jesus, who for us on Calvary died
